ProTeam Andreas Kron kicks off the Tour de Wallonie with the white mountain jersey

Andreas Kron will start tomorrow's second stage of the Tour de Wallonie in white. He was the fastest uphill today and claimed the mountain jersey. "The general classification remains the goal."
Race 22 July 2024

Kron secured the points for the mountain jersey only in the final of today's stage between Tournai and Fleurus. On the Petit Try, a short climb of 1.2 kilometers at 7.1%, located ten kilometers from the finish, he attacked and was the first to reach the top. Kron thus earned ten points for the mountain classification and was able to put on the white jersey afterwards. "It was a hectic race today, and it was actually a bit by chance that I took the white jersey," Andreas Kron says. "I hadn't set it as a goal; I just was the first to reach the top of that climb, and I think there were more points to grab there than on the first two climbs."

The Dane has his sights set on the general classification. "So, I'm not really considering the mountain classification, although it is, of course, nice to wear this jersey."

Incidentally, Florian Vermeersch finished as the team's best today, in 10th place. The final kilometers were also marked by a crash in which, unfortunately, Jasper De Buyst was involved. He mainly sustained bruises from his crash.
