ProTeam Sports Director Wesley Van Speybroeck looks back proudly at the Tour of Slovakia

The Tour of Slovakia is over. With a victory, a podium finish, and a fifth and sixth place in the general classification, sports director Wesley Van Speybroeck looks back on the week with satisfaction.
Race 30 June 2024

Lotto Dstny started the Tour of Slovakia with a fourth place in the team time trial, and in the second stage, Jenno Berckmoes finished second. Johannes Adamietz provided the cherry on top with a remarkable victory in the penultimate stage. Sports Director Wesley Van Speybroeck said: "And then we had Jenno finishing fifth and Sylvain Moniquet sixth in the general classification. The team worked incredibly hard throughout the week. Even Milan Menten, as a non-climber, managed to hold on for a long time on the climbs. Everyone did their utmost to support our GC riders. I can only be satisfied."

The team aimed for stage win for Berckmoes on the final day. "But unfortunately, it didn’t work out," says Van Speybroeck. "We were betting on the sprint, but with two kilometers to go, Jenno had to let go. The final climb – eight kilometers and quite steep – was just too long for him. Sylvain managed to stay with the front group and finished a strong fourth today. He was very strong today."

"Of course, Adamietz’s victory is the highlight of our Tour of Slovakia. Johannes is a rider who is always ready. Everyone wishes him this first professional win so much. It makes it all the more beautiful."
