Development Robin Orins new U23 Belgian Champion Time Trial

Robin Orins (22) paces to gold on the U23 Belgian Championship Time Trial in Geraardsbergen.
Race 01 May 2024

Robin Orins started as one of the big favourites for the Belgian Time Trial title and also made it reality today in Geraardsbergen. On a tough course of 19 kilometers the 22-year-old Orins could hold an advantage of 9 seconds. Steffen De Schuyteneer, who rode on his home roads, took a strong third spot.

"I felt good, but not super. After one lap I had the best intermediate time with an advantage of 5 seconds. I could still speed up, in the end I win the Belgian champion jersey with 9 seconds", says a happy Orins. I could perfectly follow my pacing plan throughout the time trial, also thanks to the fantastic guidance of the team. It's the cherry on top of a great spring. With Steffen on the podium the Lotto Dstny party was complete."

De Schuyteneer, who took bronze, got encouraged by a lot of people: "I heard my name everywhere, it was amazing. Last year I also became third, but this time it was different. I knew the course by heart. I cherish this third spot, as you don't get to ride on home roads that often. I'm really happy for Robin, he's a great teammate from whom I can learn a lot."
